Summer Time Resolutions

I feel like the summer is a time for people to feel refreshed, get energized, enjoy outside and in some ways get a new start. Everything is coming to life, people are out mowing their lawns and potting flowers and getting up early...I want to be a part of all of that.
I feel like some days it is all I can do to get up and get, say 3 things done. I hate days that come and go and I am left wondering what I have accomplished. I think the best way to stick to certain changes you want to make is to make them public... So lets do it!
#1 Lets Run!!! Tomorrow June1st I will be signing up for a half marathon. I need to get motivated and toned and I think that this is just what I need. I will have plenty of time to practice as the half marathon is in October. Sometimes you need to do things for yourself and I think an hour or two to myself everyday is just what I need. My friend Ashley ran a half marathon and used this program. I think this is what I am going to do as well. I think it will give me plenty of time to be where I need to be in order to run 13.1.
#2 Lets get organized: Right now I have 2 per diemjobs. I am having the hardest time managing my time, and not just with work, with everything. Seriously, between play dates with my kids, trying to keep my house up, laundry, my new idea to start running regularly and not having a babysitter when I need one... Are these all excuses? yes. Am I boring myself? yes.
I bought a nice big calender for my kitchen to help me keep on top of everything and am in the process of getting my office/getting ready room together. So anyway, I am going to get all of my organization together and then share with you!
#3 Lets get Zen. Does zen mean calm? Thats what I always thought it meant. I need to get some serious calm going. Sometimes I get so irritated at the dumbest shit. I need to remember that my babies are only gonna be babies for a few more years and if I dont enjoy it I will never get it back... I feel like I always remember that when they are sleeping lol.

btw... I hope everything in this post is spelled correct. My spell check isnt working.

Memorial Day Weekend: Part 2 (and puppies... scroll to bottom)

The Porter's had a very eventful second part of our Memorial Day Weekend. Sunday we went to a BBQ at my friend Heather's house. We tried to get Blake to swim in the big pool which was completely unsuccessful. But he splashed and played and dumped water all over his himself in the little pool so he still had fun. Logan liked the little pool too and looked so cute in his new bathing suit from Aunt Laura. We ate so much delicious food... and we cooked none of it. I brought a fruit platter. That Michael cut up. We had hamburgers and hot dogs and ribs and vegetables on the grill and I almost squealed with delight when a giant pan of Carolina's sister Diana's rice and beans came out. I love that stuff so much that I literally just typed that sentence with a smile on my face, my love of all things bbqis also probably why I gained 3 pounds this weekend, but I digress. We also had pina coladas and skinny girl margaritas. I pretty much sped home to get sweats on, I was so full when that party was over. After the BBQ I realized that I didn't take any pictures of me and my friends. (Insert mad crowd voice "Booooo!! Boooooo!!". From now on I am making my friends take pictures with me whether they like it or not. I feel like the last 4 years of my life have been severely under documented. All that is about to change... get ready friends!!!
Today Michael and Doug cut down more trees in front of our house (I think a total of 12 have been chopped so far). It looks really good. But now I feel like my house needs to be extra pretty because there are no trees blocking it from the road. It does need some TLC and we are working on it. Owning a home is great but is also a great pain in the ass. But I have faith that in the next few months it will be beautified.
And really who even cares about this topic because after tree cutting and naps we went to Ticonderoga and saw Ruby and Lily's puppies. These puppies are SO cute. I don't think there is a word for how cute they are. There are 81 new pictures of them on my camera, they are 81 pictures in 2 hours cute, I dont know if I have taken 81 picturesof my kidsin 2 hourse before. There are 8 puppies total and we are looking for good homes for them. They will be a month on June 4th and soon after we will be sending them out to their forever families. Wouldn't it be great if some of our new neighbors/facebook friends/ ppl we know took them and then we could have little reunions every month, every 3 months, every 6 months???
Maybe that is pushing it, but seriously check out these pictures and if your interested let me know,
..... and you will be interested.

Memorial Day Weekend: Part One

Blake just asked me where his ballerina shirt was... Damn those Wiggles...

Anyway, today we had a throw together garage sale. My friend Heather and I decided to have our garage sale on Wednesday, drank mojitos made signs last night and I got all my stuff together last night and this morning. I think that is the best way to do it, you can't think too much before you sell things. I am about 94% sure that I am not going to have any more kids so I decided it was really time to start clearing out all things baby. We have okay storage in our house but I can't justify saving things that have a 94% chance of never getting used again. Logan does not have the space in his bedroom and honestly I was just sick of looking at it.
Here are some things that I noticed about my garage sale:

1. If you have a good story or are a generally nice shopper you could ask me if you could have something for a nickel and I will say yes. For example, the old man shopping by himself who bought a baby swing for his grandson who isnt even born yet. I had to show him how to turn it on like 7 times before he left or the one who bought ALL my baby blankets to donate to the Humane Society... Sigh, old men are so cute.

2. Garage salers are UP AND AT EM!!! I had a couple pull up at about 7:55 to buy a Tickle Me Elmo. You would have thought it was 1996. By 2:00 most garage sales are closing up shop cause the truly dedicated are done by 10:30.

3. My kids have way to much stuff. I know there will come a time when it is going to be important to me that my kids have a big Christmas like I did. But that is not the case when they are1 and 3... I seriously sold some of the toys that I had bought them for Christmas this year. I'm not wasting my money anymore. I could wrap diapers for Logan and as long as he can unwrap them I am sure he will be happy.

4. It is a lot more fun having a garage sale with a friend than it is alone. Today was really fun. Blake played with Heather's girls and for the most part everyone got along great.

Up next? BBQ Tomorrow, hopefully the sun will make an appearance and perhaps the Hangover 2 :)

                                                                        Garage Sale!!!!!

                                                                       2 of our "helpers"

Logan went through 3 pairs of pants in 6 hours just from rolling around in the dirt and mud.. here he is enjoying some animal crackers
Staying true to my "no black rule". I swear I thought my hair looked cute when I went outside.
Logan on his 3rd pair of pants. He also went through 3 pairs of shoes, all 3 were kicked off within 10 minutes
Oh hey Michael!!! You know what goes great with a garage sale? A chain saw... Started cutting down the "privacy trees" in front of our house
I don't know where Heather's husband Doug was for these pictures but he cut all the trees down. Thanks Doug!
Still have to cut down all these!
and these!!!

Things I love on a Thursday

9:30 on a Thursday watching a screaming crying man rolling around on the floor on SYTYCD. WOW... That was a bit much. Anywho... I could write about how Blake ripped his curtains down off the wall again but why tell a tale twice?
Here's what I'm loving:
- So You Think You Can Dance is back. I <3 this show. It makes me not even care that all my usual shows are off for the summer... It is corny but it is great. I mean this guy just skidded across the floor on his head, not gonna find that in Peru.
- I <3 mangu. AHHHHHHHHHH I love mangu. There are few meals that I would choose over a lunch at McDonald's. This is one, it is so good! The plantains, the cheese, the onion, the salami.. I am going to find a Dominican restaurant next time I go to Albany and I am going to eat a giant platter of it.... I bet it wont be as good as my friend Carolina's but I'm gonna try.
- I <3 that I am going to go a whole week without wearing black. I wear black so much, I guess cause black is supposed to make you look thin. I need more teals, reds, blues, mustards and kelly greens in my wardrobe. I got as far as grey today and I didn't take a picture... Damn you WIWW...
- I <3 that I am going to get my life organized in a few weeks... More on that later

Blake destroys bedroom; hilarity ensues

Blake is seriously on his 3 year old way to boarding school. Everyday between 12 and 1 we put the kids down for a nap. Lately he has been committing random acts of violence against his bedroom before he falls asleep. Today was the worst (and the funniest)...
When we moved into our house Logan was like 2 months old and sleeping in our room. We decided the first room we were going to paint and decorate was Blake's. We got him a glow in the dark outer space bed set, stars for his ceiling, Curious George decals, the curtains that make your room nice and dark, new mini blinds. It looked cute in there. Slowly he started destroying all of our (Michael's) hard work. He started peeling the decals off and crumpling them up. He ripped all 4 of the metal hooks that hold the curtains back out of the wall (screws, wall anchors, everything), broke his closet door off the track etc. It has been so frustrating...
Today I came home from Wal Mart and Michael asked if I knew that he had completely broken his blind. It was on the dining room floor and all the slats were split in half....
Michael was irritated but also relieved because Blake had finally fallen asleep... or so he thought. About 10 minutes after I got home we heard some noise in Blake's room and Michael went to check on him. I can't remember what Michael yelled but I know it made me and Logan interested enough to get up and see what was going on.
He had ripped the curtains off the rod crumpled them in a ball and threw them in his closet. His curtain rod was in 2 pieces hanging from the wall in the shape of a V..... He was in trou-ble.
So here is the funny part... Blake's bed has about 8 or 9 slats of wood underneath it. One of them had come out a few months ago at the end of the bed so there is no support if you sit down, Blake is short enough now that it doesn't make a difference. Michael in his fit of rage and while yelling at Stink stood up on the bed to take the curtain rod down and..........

fell through the mattress...
bahahahahahahhahaahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahaha ahhhhhhhhhhhh hahahahahahahaha!!!!

It was quiet hilarious if you ask me. So funny that I had to walk out of the room, but not before saying, and you know I had to say something... "you were supposed to fix that"...

I don't even know if that gives a good visual of the situation but trust me it was funny... anyway here are some pictures of  the damage as well as my WIWW linking up with The Pleated Poppy. I only documented today's outfit and yesterdays hair but next week will be better because I have big plans to organize my life in the next few days :)

The aftermath... I wish I had a before picture

Ripped the hooks off the wall

Mini blinds in the dining room... headed to the garbage
The Culprit

"the destroyer" and I for WIWW. I love his face in this one
hate this picture, but enjoying my hair... notice my manicure ;)

Keep Smiling, Keep Shining.....

"What kind of name is Stove anyway?"

I had so much fun this weekend. My friend Ashley is getting married in June and this past weekend was her bachelorette party. It was 24 kid free hours of bliss. Ashley and I have almost the same life. We both have 2 boys the same age, were both stay at home moms, we were both planning our weddings at the same time, we had the same car, we have the same name, we both watch all the seasons of Bravo Housewives, except maybe DC (bor--inggg)...
Anyway.... first we went and saw Bridesmaids.. That movie was hilarious. I loved the blonde with the three boys.. I feel like some of the things she said gave me a preview of what life was gonna be like in about 13 years ("I cracked a blanket in half") ha ha they were all so funny. I think I need to see this movie one more time in the theater. It really is that good.
After the movie we went and got manicures and pedicures. You know that scene in Legally Blonde where the girls are at the salon and the women are talking about Elle and her friends? That is DEFINITELY what happened when were getting our nails done. It made me wish I had taken something besides one year of Spanish in college. I wish I could have called those bitches out. But I paid and gave a good tip and then talked about them for like 20 minutes in true Ashley fashion, plus my toes do look good, so I'm over it.
We had some drinks in the hotel room and then went out to dinner. I don't know if the place was called DP's or Yonos but I do know that they had these pretzels that I could have eaten as my meal. They were shaped like Dunkin Muchkins and were delicious. Plus their french fries are cut like McDonald's. So that place gets an A in my book.
Then we went out. In my humble opinion, down town Albany is a hot mess. At the risk of sounding like a 75 year old, why is the music so loud? It was seriously giving me a headache, I couldn't hear anything anyone was saying and a lot of the times my ' I cant hear what your saying' face was probably misconstrued as an 'I don't care what your saying' face. The other negative of the night was that apparently someone got shot in the leg. That's awful. I don't think people should combine drinking and guns. It just seems like a recipe for disaster if you ask me. Which brings me to one of my favorite (and their are like 100) Chris Rock quotes:
"Gun control? We need bullet control! I think every bullet should cost $5000 dollars. Because if a bullet cost $5000 dollars, we wouldn't have any innocent bystanders"

The best parts of the night were when we got this big fat martini, when my cousin Danielle met us out and when we got back to the hotel and fell asleep and didn't have to get up to make bottles. Well those were my favorite parts. Here are some pictures :)
The Bride to Be

I don't know what this drink was called but it was really good

All of us

Look who came to see us?? :)

And here are some pictures of the boys spent their weekend:

 Logan's BFF

The boys and I are at my parents house for the weekend. I am leaving my kids with my parents overnight so I can celebrate my friend Ashley's bachelorette party (Yippeeeee!!!!)
This morning we were in the kitchen, Blake and Lo playing with their magnets on the fridge and my parents and I having coffee. After awhile the boys went to watch TV in the living and we continued with whatever we were talking about. Mid conversation I had to stop everyone and direct their eyes to the fridge. This is what we saw:
Blakey put a cow butt magnet over his brother's face!!

I found this to be hilarious... Then I started to think of the reason Blake would cover his brothers face with animal butt and here is what I came up with:

 1) Logan has been obsessed with my father since we got here and Blake doesn't like that.
 2)  Now that Logan's walking Blake doesn't like sharing his ride on/walk with toys with him.
3) Secretly Blake is still seeking revenge for this event.

Either way it had me cracking up...

Too many Urkels on your team thats why your Winslow

My head is POUNDING!!! I think its because I need to upgrade to the IPhone 4... just kidding... kinda. No its probably because Blake is supposed to be sleeping and instead is kicking his bedroom door in melody... I'm seriously about to lose it... but what do I do when I feel like I'm going to lose it you ask?? I do this. No seriously in my head this is what I say... Thank you Carl. Thank you.

Colgate Smile

In other Porter house news... Blake went to the dentist for the first time today. If there are 2 things this kid takes seriously it's haircuts and teeth cleanings. He was SO good. He seriously handled the cleaning like a pro. The office we went to was wonderful and I would definitely recommend them. So here is how the whole thing went down:
Before at home: This picture isn't accurate. He was not phased about going to the dentist at all. I think I could ask Blake if he wanted to go bungee jumping and he wouldn't be phased... Just don't ask him to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap!

Getting ready to get down to business. He seriously looked so cute in the chair, his feet went to where most people's knees would go. So brave.
Can I be more in his mouth? My camera has a terrific zoom lens. But the answer to that question is yes. yes I can.
After he was done I asked him if I could take a picture of his teeth. He put his mouth on the lens and said cheeeeeeeeeese!
Final outcome = 20 teeth (10 up, 10 down), Cavity free, a new Batman toothbrush and a alligator wind up toy! So proud of our Stinkerton!!

Here is my first attempt at WIWW. My mirror in my room is too close to everything so I couldnt get that great of a picture, also in the future I won't be using the flash. That was stupid. This is how I have seen all of the WIWW's go so far:

Then I just state where are all my clothes are from:
Black Mossimo short sleeve shirt with front pocket: Target (LKF giveaway)
Skinny Jeans: Old Navy
Olive Mossimo flat: Target
